Images can be reviewed immediately at the patient's bedtime, speeding up diagnosis and treatment
Back in 2016, a team from Addenbrooke’s radiology department attended the UK Radiological Congress with an important objective – they were shopping for a new fleet of mobile X-ray units.
They looked at all the mobiles that were on display, took them for a test drive, discussed the attributes of each, and compared the image quality.
The team eventually opted for the Fujifilm FDR Go.
It is lightweight, compact and easy to move, with good visibility when manoeuvering thanks to the small tube head, a very-straightforward user interface, and storage for detectors and batteries.
There are a range of detectors available, including the C24 which is perfect for neo-natal imaging.
The D-Evo II detectors are ergonomically designed and easy for radiographers to handle, and are also lightweight, waterproof and antibacterial.
Virtual Grid brings advanced processing technology that reduces the effects of scatter without the need for the radiographer to use a physical grid, with the additional benefit that dose can be significantly reduced compared to using a real grid.
Fast forward to 2017, the order was placed and the fleet of new mobiles and detectors were delivered to Addenbrooke’s.
“All of our radiographers love using the FDR Go as they are so easy to move around and position, and the images are excellent”, said Carolyn Woolhead, lead radiographer.
“The image quality is incredibly good with really-detailed anatomy, and the Virtual Grid processing means PIC lines and NG tubes can be seen without doing multiple images, thus reducing time and patient dose.”
The introduction of the FDR Go has meant images are available at the patient’s bedside for the clinician to review immediately. This has improved the speed at which clinical decisions can be made on the critical care units.
